Content of the Book 'Love, Envy and Witchcraft'

In her new book Maria Lieleg writes about love. A love which attracts the envy of others... and makes them turn to unusual means to destroy the happiness of those they envy. The story is about witchcraft and superior forces, and whether we are subject to these forces or can fight against them...

Can we influence our destiny?
Can we break the pattern of a family clan's fate?
Is a daemon, the devil, a witch and a curse the same thing?
Based on personal experiences, these are some of the questions that Maria Lieleg asks in her book.

Two decades ago she met an Egyptian in her hometown of Vienna, and they spent two happy years in love. A love so romantic it could be a story in 1001 nights... although overshadowed by war, disease and terror. At the same time she started to have jerks and cramps apparently without reason...
Twenty years later in 2005. She always wanted to change her life and move to a Southern country. Business brings her to Tenerife, where she slowly finds a new home. Her children are adults by now and their father died of cancer, so she decides to start a new life on the island.
Her goal is to finally realize her dreams... but however hard she tries, she always encounters resistance on her way. Why is she not able to turn her dreams into reality like other people?
"There is a curse on you... by a woman full of envy," a clairvoyant warns her during a chance encounter on the street. Could this be true? Do curses really exist? She sets out to discover the reason, still oblivious world she would discover... a journey of discovery that would open to her the world of santeria, that would even bring her to a santero priest for a cleaning ritual and to her sister in law for a procedure to remove the remaining curses from her body and soul.
Her efforts to remove the curses that had been laid on her and her family, bring her in close contact with spirituality and raise questions about her own beliefs, destiny and religion and how these influence her relationships and her intense but hopeless love for a man in her new home of Tenerife.

What is santeria?
Does santeria have any parallels with the catholic religion?
Where are the borders between religion and santeria?
Would santeria replace her belief in astrology?
Are we ruled by destiny or can we influence our own path?
Do we need to believe in destiny or a religion to guide us in our lives?
Is hope the most important thing in our life?
Do envy and fear go together?
Is fear our original sin and the mother of all evil?
Are we manipulated by politicians, the press and multinationals?
Are some of the world's leaders possessed by the devil?
Was it witchcraft or destiny that determined the most recent years in her life... ?

...these are the questions put forward in the story. A fascinating story providing insight to the unusual world of spirituality, prompting the user to explore his own beliefs and providing ample material for thought and discussion.

The story plays in Tenerife, Vienna and Egypt.
